FAQ:
• When is Tarpon, Permit and Bonefish season?
Tarpon season is from May to September. That’s when we have the bigger migrating tarpon (50+ pound). Local baby tarpons (15 to 40 pounds) are available all year round.
Permit season is from February to May. That’s when we get the bigger migrating Permit (15 to 35 pounds) Local smaller Permit (3 to 10 pounds) are available all year round.
Bonefishing is good all year round. Bigger bonefish tend to travel solo and range between 4 to 8 pounds. Smaller bone fish range between 1 to 3 pounds.

• How many anglers per boat?
We fish from 23’ panga skiff boats. Reel Belize guided fishing price is for 1 or 2 anglers per boat.
• Is fishing equipment included?
All fishing gear for fly fishing or light spin fishing are included if needed on guided trips.
• Do we need fishing license?
Yes, a fishing license is required for flats fishing. Fishing licenses can be purchased at our Reel Belize Fly Shop downtown San Pedro or online at www.coastalzonebelize.org
• Do you offer pickup?
We offer free pickup and drop off from your dock. Ambergris Caye starting at 5 Miles north (Matachica Resort) to the furthest point south on the beach front (east side). If you are staying between 5 and 7 miles north (beach front) of San Pedro town, please add on transportation. Transportation cost is $30US round trip per boat. If you are staying on the lagoon side or more than 7 miles north, please call us for pickup options. What’s App: BZ 610-5182.
• Do you provide lunch?
Yes, we provide a custom lunch. Choose from a sandwich or wrap. We also include fruit and dessert. Drinks are sodas and water. You may request beer or bring your own beverage. Gluten free and dietary restrictions can be accommodated (please provide advance notice).
• Do you fish in the rain?
Yes, we fish in the rain. Always bring a rain jacket with you (wet = cold even in 80 degrees).
• What happens if the weather is bad?
If we must cancel due to weather or fault of our own, we will try to reschedule if not we will give a full refund. All other cancellations are non-refundable. We highly recommend travel insurance.
• What form of payment do you accept?
We will send you an invoice from our PayPal account. Use your credit card of choice for payment / confirmation. 50% deposit required. Balance is due 90 days prior to arrival.
• I need to cancel my guided trip for personal reasons, can I get a refund?
Reel Belize clients may cancel their booking at any time provided that the cancellation is communicated to Reel Belize in writing. Cancellation charges will be applied from the day when Reel Belize receives written notice minus a $50.00 administrative fee. Your full deposit will move forward for one year to another date or can be transferred to another angler. Cancellations less than 60 days are non-refundable.
• Sea Sickness. What do I do?
We recommend you take a Dramamine. Take one the night before bed and one in the morning. However: Because we fish inside the Barrier Reef it is shallow and most people do not get seasick.
• Are we allowed to keep the fish?
Tarpon, Permit and Bonefish (flats fishing) are catch and release only. All other species can be cleaned by your guide and taken to any of the local restaurant for then to prepare for you.
• Do you offer reef fishing?

• We are coming to Belize in a Cruise Ship. Can you accommodate?
We are located on the island of San Pedro and the cruise ship docks in Belize City. If you are docking in Harvest Caye we will be unable to offer services due to location. To get to the island you would have to get a cab to the municipal airstrip (5 minutes, cost $5US) then a flight to San Pedro. The flight schedule to San Pedro is every hour on the half hour. The flight takes about 20 minutes, and the cost is about $105US per person round trip. Flights can be booked online at tropicair.com Your guide will be waiting for you at the airstrip to take you to the dock to start your trip. Usually, its half day that is done giving you enough time to return to Belize City.
